Gantz – 315Author: Jon Martin | Saturday, April 10th, 2010 |
Another two weeks, another issue of Gantz to review, click read more for the review.
After being transported to an unknown location, then told they must fight, the Gantzer’s were transported to another unknown location.
An Alien World?
It seems like Gantz likes to reveille in confusion. Even during the parts of Gantz where it was just a competition, you never knew what kind of curveball would be thrown that could disrupt the narrative. The first time this happened Kato and Kishimoto were killed leaving Kurono as the only remaining character, he was forced to continue the gantz game alone, without anyone that started. Then, things were switched up again when we discover that you can bring people back to life if you score 100 points in gantz.
Up until recently readers haven’t really understood what’s happening, who was invading or what the point of the Gantz “games” were. Everything is becoming a little clearer now, it seems that the Gantz games were just to prepare the Gantzers for their huge fight with another civilization.
Protip: Most Manga is read from Right to Left.
After appearing near a dock and some boats, the gantz team realize they are surrounded by giant human-like figures. Not only are they huge but they also seem to have extra pairs of eyes.
Call me crazy but I’m with the guy that says shoot!
After seeing the humans, the giants begin to take pictures and make calls on what look to be cell phones. Soon everyone begins to panic… and the first shot is fired.
I like this guy
One of the Leaders (the ones that transported the gantzers here), tells them all to start shooting and that they are in the middle of the alien’s ship. Soon, reinforcements arrive.
This is the final part of Gantz, the series has been going for 5-6 years now. There have been over 300 chapters. It’s really been a long haul and with the realization that this alien civilization is their final obstacle, all that’s left is to watch the characters die. That’s what the entire series has been about, how fragile life and death is. Even if you can be a superhero, so can your enemies and if you can tear them in half, they can do the same to you. Gantz’s world is scary as hell and that’s what makes each chapter so engaging, you never know who could die or what could happen.
Meanwhile, Tae-chan steps over the corpses of her former classmates as she looks for Kei. I fear she might be the next character to die. Poor Tae-chan.
Back onboard the alien’s ship, reinforcements arrive and the group goes back to fighting. The gantz team holds them off for a while but soon even more reinforcements arrive.
Then this guy takes off his helmet.
