Emanuel: Barton Wasn’t Mistaken, Corporations over People is Republican PhilosophyAuthor: Jon Martin | Monday, June 21st, 2010 |
Joe Barton’s comments about the government “shaking-down” BP for 20 million dollars have pissed a lot of people off. Barton is on the Energy and Commerce committee, he has quite a lot of power and with so much power he chooses to side AGAINST the American people and with BP. Watch as Rahm Emanuel lays it all out for Jake Tapper.
Senior Republicans in the party realize how horrible these comments make them look. It looks like they are finally willing to kick one of their own out of office, it’s about time. Maybe some of the Republicans are starting to realize how ridiculous it is to support a company like BP, when BP has ruined everything. With people like Barton defending BP, it’s no wonder that we have no idea how bad this spill really is. It’s going to be worse than any of us imagine, I would bet. I don’t even like to think about it anymore. If a huge tropical storm hits, it will carry all the despersants into the air and then the dispersants will kill ALL vegetation because of how lethal they are, the government is actually suing BP for their use of dispersants, they have double or more the toxicity levels that are considered safe. What is there to do but shake your head? We didn’t listen to all the sci-fi apocalyptic scenarios, a good chunk of America said they didn’t believe in global warming, they said “drill baby drill” but look where we are now. We are totally fucked. Thanks Republicans, thanks BP, thanks complicit Obama administration for obtusifying how bad this disaster really is. Does anyone know what’s happening in Mexico because of this spill? What about poor countries that depend on a meager amount of fish just to live? Then after the oil fills up the gulf? what next? Will the entire eastern side of our country be contaminated with the oil? Do you know how many fish will die from that? Couple that with the dispersant toxic rain that is predicted and we are looking at a huge chunk of dead wildlife, obliterated food-chains.. and we don’t even know the effects the oil/dispersants will have on people. BP is refusing to let their workers wear venilators because it’s bad PR, this is the company that is supposed to be taking care of the situation.
