Top Conservatives Call for Pot LegalizationAuthor: Jon Martin | Saturday, August 7th, 2010 |
In general, most conservatives and republicans have been against drug legalization, in most part due to Nancy Reagan’s failed “War on Drugs” and their tendency to praise Reagan as some sort of deity. Things are slowly changing though and although President Reagan is still up on a pedestal, his wife’s failed war on drugs is not. Much of this has to do with the recent popularity of the Tea Party and their movement for less government.
As miguided as the Tea Party movement might be, they seem to be helping the cause of legalizing marijuana. Watch as some of today’s most famous conservatives discuss why they think it’s time to legalize marijuana.
That isn’t to say that Fox News is necessarily for pot legalization. The Republican party is now divided on this issue. The tea-baggers and those that believe in a less-government approach, believe that the government has no right to tell people what they can and can’t do. On the other side, you have the conservative republicans that believe drugs are immoral.
Eventually, most of the country will approve of pot legalization and this is something media-savvy Republicans are picking up on. Republicans need to realize that pot will be legalized, abortion will never be criminalized, and gay marriage is inescapable.
Fox isn’t all pro-pot though, check out this strange and misleading interview with a former drug addict. He says that legalizing pot is a really bad idea. I’m sure Fox could have found a less slovenly-looking former drug-addict to do this interview.. plus, people who smoke pot are not the same as those that get addicted to Heroin and harder drugs.
This guy’s brain has gone to places that someone’s smoking pot will never go, how can he speak for anyone that just smokes pot at night to relax? He’s a drug addict, not a casual user, maybe for him Marijuana SHOULD never be available.. but I can introduce you to a few people I know that shouldn’t be let near Adderol either.
