The New Normal? Obama has Failed to stop Torture and Worst Bush-Era PoliciesAuthor: Jon Martin | Friday, August 13th, 2010 |
President Obama’s first term as president has not been a cakewalk. The economy collapsed JUST as he came into office and ever since, things seem to get worse by the day. This morning it was announced that President Obama would be dissolving the position of “ethics czar”, the “czar” in charge of making things transparent. Obama just ‘giving up’ on promises is becoming a pattern… but then how much of that can be chalked up to Republican obstructionism?
Michael Macleod-Ball, ACLU Chief legislative and policy counsel, says the president has been inconsistent in delivering on his election campaign pledges. It seems that Obama has decided to embrace the rules that the Bush administration carved out for themselves, Obama seems to have given up on the idea of transparency.
This couldn’t be at a worse time either, as Obama has come under pressure from all sides about the Wikileaks Afghanistan documents. Not only are Dems calling for him to get out of Afghanistan but now a growing number of Republicans are echoing those calls. It seems like Republicans have realized that spending tons of AMERICAN money in Afghanistan probably won’t help our economy get better. However, the real reason we are there is probably because of the trillion dollars worth of minerals under Afghanistan.
