Study says Mike Huckabee most-liked Republican, Sarah Palin most well-knownAuthor: Jon Martin | Monday, January 10th, 2011 |
A recent gallup poll has found that Mike Huckabee is the most-favored among Republicans of all the prospective 2012 presidential candidates. At number two is Newt Gingrich, followed by Mitt Romney. In fourth, I assume, much to her chagrin, is Sarah Palin. Palin might not be the most-liked of the Republican candidates but she is the most well-known.
Since Palin emerged on the scene during Barack Obama’s presidential race, she has become a lightning rod for controversy and a figure that divides people. In recent days, the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords has thrust Palin into the spotlight in a very unflattering way. Palin drew crosshairs on Giffords in promotional material for The Tea Party during the midterm elections.
Palin will probably remain infamous but chances are her popularity will fade due to the Gifford shooting. It’s not necessarily Palin or the GOP’s fault directly, they didn’t ask for anyone to be assassinated… but their dangerous rhetoric has almost assuredly lead to the current atmosphere of animosity between Democrats/Republicans.
Huckabee might be a conservative but I believe Americans would trust his judgement much more than Sarah Palin’s. I think as the elections get closer and closer, you will see the Republican candidates separate themselves from one and other and start attacking one and other.
Huckabee already started it by directly disagreeing with Sarah Palin’s assessment of Michelle Obama’s campaign to keep kids fit. On her show, Palin said that the government shouldn’t be able to tell her children what to eat. Huckabee disagreed with Palin, saying that Michelle Obama is just trying to keep children healthy in the US. Huckabee knows this himself as he lost a huge amount of weight and even wrote a book about it.
