Rachel Maddow: Why do we need Tax Cuts for Millionaires? (Video)
President Bush passed the “Bush Tax Cuts” during his presidency to help high-income earners keep a larger percentage of their income. The tax cuts, passed in 2001 and 2003, are sent to expire soon.. and with the economic recovery looking as dire as ever, expiration is particularly controversial. Rachel explains why Republicans are pretending extending the tax cuts will help Americans.
President Obama’s first term as president has not been a cakewalk. The economy collapsed JUST as he came into office and ever since, things seem to get worse by the day. It was announced today that Obama is dissolving the position of “ethics czar”, the “czar” in charge of making things transparent. Obama has decided to embrace the rules that Bush administration carved out for themselves and ignore transparency.
White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs came under fire yesterday for saying that Obama’s left-wing critics should be “drug-tested”. Gibbs has downplayed the comments but they seem to have struck a chord in many congressional democrats. These comments are something you might expect from a Fox News spokesman, not the representative for the White House. In this video, Grayson calls Gibbs “Bozo The Spokesman” and says Gibbs should not be allowed to resign but should be fired.

This year’s new Republicans are a little more extreme than last year’s models, no one is really talking about it but somehow, it has become the new Republican platform to deny abortion to rape and incest victims. Providing no leeway for rape victims might prove to be a losing strategy for the Republicans in the 2010 elections. Would you want your daughter to carry the child of a rapist?

In this awkward standing-up interview with creationist Wendy Wright, Dawkins and Wright debate their views on teaching creationism in schools. Wendy Wright is the current president and CEO of Concerned Women for America, a Conservative Christian political group that seeks to have creationism taught in schools alongside evolution
This video just surfaced on youtube, it’s a webcam window recorded by one of the members in the chat. Apparently her father discovers her using the internet and begins screaming and yelling at her, it also sounds like she is slapped in the video. It has been fun to pick on Jessi Slaughter but sadly domestic violence isn’t that funny.
As tarballs wash up on beaches along the coast, it’s becoming clear that we are only just beginning to feel the effects of this disaster. What’s worse? Things could be even more dire than we know(and probably are), as many people are coming forward claiming that BP is attempting to hide the severity and danger of the spill. In this clip from the Washington Journal, taped yesterday, a man calls in claiming to have footage of BP bleaching beaches along the coastline at night, to keep them white and hide oil contamination.
Anthony Weiner is on a roll, yesterday he
Hugh Kaufman is a veteran and legend at the EPA, he sat down earlier this week on MSNBC to discuss the dispersants BP has used and the effect they have. Apparently the effect of corexit mixing with oil is incredibly toxic and the federal government and BP are hiding how bad the spill really is.
Anthony Weiner has become a bit of a youtube celebrity because of his C-span rants. He gets very passionate when he believes in someone and is willing to go against the grain to get his point across. In this clip, Weiner is angered by Republicans obstructing good legislation from passing. It’s nice that Democrats have a representative like this that can channel the frustration of the average American.
Best show in the universe? This can’t even be the best show on Maddox’s block. What was stopping Maddox from doing this the last 10 years? That’s a lot of pre-production for a piece of shit. If you’re going to be a cynical douche-bag like Maddox you have to deliver, or you will be torn apart.
Before Arrested Development and Mr Show, David Cross was a stand-up comic. He still is and as an atheist, he tends to talk about how ridiculous religion can be in his act. In this interview with ABC news, he explains to Dan Harris why he uses humor about god in his stand-up and when he finally realized that he didn’t believe in god.
